* Suspect connected to several crimes arrested with a weapon haul

Feb 21, Colombo: Minuwangoda Police have arrested a man with firearms, sharp weapons and live ammunition and several vehicle number plates during a raid conducted in the Pattaduwana area in Minuwangoda, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Police also seized a 12 bore firearm, 16 12 bore bullets, 3 swords, 1 machete, 4 knives and 12 9mm live ammunition from the suspect.

The arrested 38-year-old suspect will be questioned at length by Minuwangoda Police OIC Chief Inspector Rohan Mahesh and other officers regarding the possession of such weapons, the spokesman added.
