* President appoints committee to study Easter Sunday attack probe report

Feb 19, Colombo: President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has appointed a committee to study in depth the contents and recommendations of the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attack and the report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security submitted to Parliament.

Minister Chamal Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee, President’s Media Division said.

Ministers Johnston Fernando, Udaya Gammanpila, Ramesh Pathirana, Prasanna Ranatunga and Rohitha Abeygunawardena are the other members.

Director General (Legal) of the Presidential Secretariat Harigupta Rohanadheera has been appointed as the Secretary of the Committee to facilitate the Committee’s functions and other matters.

The Presidential Secretariat will direct the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry and Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security to the Committee.

The Committee is directed to submit its report before March 15, 2021.

The President received the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attack in 2019 on 1st February 2021.
