Apr 24, Colombo: The criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sri Lanka Police has arrested former Minister and Wanni District Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen and his brother Riyad Bathiudeen today.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the ACMC leader and his brother were arrested by the CID this morning (24) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for aiding and abetting the Easter Sunday attackers.
MP Rishad Bathiudeen was arrested at his residence on Bauddhaloka Mawatha in Colombo and his brother Riyad Bathiudeen was taken into custody at his residence in Wellawatte.
The suspects were arrested based on direct and scientific evidence, the police spokesman said.
Riyad Bathiudeen was previously arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on the 14th of April 2020, detained and then released on 30 September 2020 without presenting him in court
Police Media Spokesman Ajith Rohana said the suspects are currently being questioned in this regard.
