Apr 08, Colombo: Reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie was released on police bail after being arrested by the Police this afternoon over the brawl at the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant on Sunday.

Former model Chula Padmendra was also arrested along with Jurie, police said.

The 2021 Mrs. World Sri Lanka Pageant was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theater on Sunday (04) night and Mrs. Pushpika de Silva was crowned as the winner by Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Mayor Rosy Senanayake.

However, when Pushpika De Silva was about to take center stage, reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie forcibly stripped the crown off of the winner claiming that she is a divorcee and not qualified to be crowned according to pageant rules. Jurie then went on to crown the first runner-up.

Pushpika de Silva was hospitalized following the incident due to the injuries to her scalp caused by removing the crown forcibly.

Caroline Jurie and Chula Padmendra were arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police today (08) after recording their statements and released on police bail, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana, said.

It has been reported that Jurie has refused to apologize publicly to Pushpika for the incident and it is said that Mrs. Pushpika de Silva has refused accept written apologies from the two women concerned. As a result, Caroline Jury and Chula Padmendra were arrested by Cinnamon Gardens Police.
