* Coronavirus update: 221 new COVID-19 cases identified Wednesday, total rises to 93,993

Apr 07, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 221 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Wednesday.

Among the positive cases identified Wednesday are, 178 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 12 associates of prison cluster and 31 foreign arrivals.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10 pm Wednesday, a total of 93,993 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 2,485 infected patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 316 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Three deaths due to COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday raising the total to 591 and 90,917 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Up to Wednesday, a total of 924,687 individuals have been vaccinated.
