* Minister Chamal Rajapaksa examines the progress of the Uma Oya project

Sept 22, Colombo: Minister of Irrigation Chamal Rajapaksa paid an emergency visit to observe the development work in the lower valley of the Uma Oya project yesterday (21).

During the visit, he inspected a number of places, including tanks and main sluices fed by water from the Uma Oya.

Discussions were held with the officials on how the development work has been done so far and the ways necessary to expedite and systematically carry out the development work in the future.

Mr. Chamal Rajapaksa stated that the work on the Uma Oya project is expected to be completed by next March.
