* Navy recovers Rs. 5 million worth Kerala Cannabis hidden in a Kalpitiya island

Sept 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy on information received by the naval intelligence officers of the Kalpitiya Vijaya Naval Base have seized a stock of Kerala Cannabis hidden in a fishing hut in Paramunai Island close to Baththalangunduwa, Kalpitiya.

The special search operation conducted by the Northwestern Naval Command at the Paramunai Island led to the recovery of 32kg and 145g of Kerala cannabis in 15 packages, hidden at an unoccupied fishing hut by racketeers.

It has been revealed that a group of organized smugglers has brought the stock of Kerala Cannabis from India by a boat and hidden in the island.

The stock of cannabis was handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for onward investigation.
