* Four suspects, who assaulted police in Atulugama remanded until 22nd

Sept 19, Colombo: Balangoda Magistrate Jayaruwan Dissanayake yesterday (18) remanded four persons arrested in connection with the attack on police in the Atulugama area in Bandaragama until the 22nd of this month.

The suspects are residents of the Atalugama area in Bandaragama.

Meanwhile, the Balangoda Magistrate Thursday (17) remanded a father and son, both residents of the Kuragala area in Balangoda, for providing accommodation and assistance to the suspects.

The suspects had assaulted a group of Bandaragama police officers who had gone to raid a cannabis racket at a house in the Atalugama area in Bandaragama on the 9th.

Four police officers including two female officers were injured in the attack and admitted to the hospital. On information received, the Kaltota Police arrested the suspects on the morning of the 17th while they were hiding in a house in the Kuragala area in Kaltota, Balangoda.
