Sept 18, Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka will do its utmost to prevent human trafficking, Minister of Justice Ali Sabry has assured the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Minister of Justice Mohamed Ali Sabry gave this assurance when he met with Sarat Dash, IOM Chief of Mission for Sri Lanka (IOM) at the Ministry of Justice yesterday (17). The issues of migration and the legal issues pertaining to them were discussed at this meeting.
The discussion focused on the steps to be taken to prevent human trafficking and the legal situation in that regard, as well as the adverse effects of human trafficking.
The Minister of Justice stated that the Government of Sri Lanka will do its utmost to prevent human trafficking.
The International Organization for Migration will extend its fullest support to the Government of Sri Lanka, said its Chief Sarat Dash.
Sri Lanka became a member of the International Organization for Migration in 1990 and the organization was established in Sri Lanka in 2002.
