* Three killed in lorry-three wheeler collision

Sept 16, Colombo: Three persons were killed when a three-wheeler collided with a lorry in the Divurumpitiya area on the Ratnapura-Avissawella main road.

The accident occurred at around 3.30 this morning when the three wheeler traveling from Avissawella to Ratnapura was hit by the lorry coming from behind, police stated.

The driver of the three-wheeler and two passengers had succumbed to their injuries on admission to the Avissawella Hospital.

The deceased are residents of the Avissawella area, aged 48, 53, and 57 years.

The driver of the lorry has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Avissawella Police are conducting further investigations.
