* Committee Report on the 20th Amendment to the Cabinet

Sept 16, Colombo: The report of the committee appointed to study the 20th Amendment to the Constitution handed over to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday is due to be presented to the Cabinet today.

The relevant report notes new clauses to be added and clauses to be amended with regard to the 20th Amendment.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on 12th September appointed a nine-member committee headed by Minister Prof. GL Peiris to study the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. The Committee consisted of ministers, state ministers and ruling party parliamentarians.

The report of this committee was handed over to the Prime Minister on 15th September.
