* STF arrests four with over Rs. 10 million worth turmeric and Kerala Cannabis

Sept 15, Colombo: The Police Special Task Force (STF) and Sri Lanka Army in a joint operation arrested four persons, including two women, in the Pudukudirippu area in Mannar today (15) for illegally transporting a consignment of turmeric and Kerala cannabis worth over Rs. 10 million in a lorry and a tractor, the STF said.

During the raid Police seized 52 kilograms of Kerala cannabis, 920 kilograms of turmeric, a tractor, a lorry, Rs. 1.7 million in cash and five US$ 100 notes from the possession of the arrested suspects.

The raid was carried out by STF personnel from Vavuniya and Mannar divisions in collaboration with Sri Lanka Army and Mannar Police on information received from the Sri Lanka Army.
