* Coronavirus update: Three areas in Mirihana, Wilgoda in Kurunegala isolated, Pundaluoya, town closed

Oct 30, Colombo: Steps have been taken to isolate Valsiripura, Rahulapura and Pragathipura areas in the Mirihana police division with immediate effect, the National Operation Center for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) announced.

The measure was taken after 14 COVID-19 infected persons have been reported from those areas.

Also, the health authorities have taken steps to isolate the Wilgoda area in Kurunegala following the announcement of the NOCPCO that 08 employees of the Kurunegala Municipal Council have been infected with the corona virus.

The infected are all reportedly residents of the same village.

Meanwhile, the Kurunegala Medical Office of Health took measures to restrict movement in Mallawapitiya after 07 COVID-19 cases were reported from the area on Thursday (29).

The Pudaluoya town traders' association in Talawakele has taken action to close the Pudaluoya town for a few days today (30) due to the encounter of several patients infected with the Kovid 19 virus in Pudaluoya, Watagoda and Kotmale areas in Talawakele.

Due to the discovery of several individuals infected with COVID-19 virus from Pudaluoya, Watagoda and Kotmale areas in Talawakelle, the Pundaluoya town traders' association has taken action to close the Pundaluoya town for several days from today (30) to prevent the movement of plantation workers to the town.

The Infected patients in the area have been referred to quarantine centers and a large number of their families have been placed under self-quarantine in their homes.

The Secretary of the Pundaluoya Traders' Association Indrasena Maussawa said that the shops in Pundaluoya will be reopened after the town is completely disinfected and the risk of the COVID-19 virus spreading from the plantation areas is eliminated.
