Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the woman arrested from Battaramulla was arrested for uploading a video to social media with malicious content mentioning Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.

The woman will be produced before the Fort Chief Magistrate tomorrow, the police spokesman said.

The Catholic Church has also issued a statement condemning the attempt by the woman to tarnish the image of the Archbishop of Colombo.

In the statement issued by the Administrative Secretary of the Catholic Church said that an unknown woman had released a video targeting the Archbishop to public through Facebook and the claims made by the woman are false baseless, offensive and misleading.
