* Heroin worth Rs. 100 mn seized on information from Makandure Madush

Oct 17, Colombo: The Police recovered a stock of about 10 kilos of heroin estimated to be worth Rs. 100 million in the Kotikawatta area in Kolonnawa early this morning on a tip off given by the drug dealer Makandure Madush who is in the custody of the Colombo Crimes Division on detention orders.

During an operation carried out by the Colombo Crimes Division today, the drugs were found hidden in a garage in the Kotikawatta area, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. It has been revealed that the suspect was preparing to flee abroad about two months ago.

Police had earlier found 04 firearms and live ammunition in the suspect’s possession. Further investigations led the police to find the heroin stock, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
