* One year after the election of the government, people have not benefited - Vajira
Fri, Oct 16, 2020, 12:05 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 16, Colombo: Nearly a year has passed since the current government came to power, but it has become a regime that has done no good to the people, said former minister Vajira Abeywardena.

In such a situation, the fate of the country is heading towards a very unfortunate place and the people will have to suffer the consequences in the future, he said.

He said that the country's economy was facing a serious tragedy and that the present government had not yet taken the steps taken by the world to overcome the situation in Sri Lanka. He was speaking to the media.

Commenting to the media, Mr. Vajira Abeywardena said the Corona disease is expected to remain active in Sri Lanka and the world until 2022 or 2023.

“The whole world has faced such situations for two or three years when such things happen in the history. The Sri Lankan people are also facing this problem now Have the rulers fulfilled their duties under such circumstances? Not as far as I know.”

So there are a few things that rulers need to do. One is the need to implement measures to minimize the spread of this disease. We see that the government has not taken the necessary steps for that. Where will the country go next after this?

"We have to keep in mind that when the corona appeared and one or two or three people were reported to have contracted the disease, the government imposed a curfew and closed the whole country and showed that it had won. Of course it’s not a skill.”

The former minister pointed out that the situation in the country was brought under control by imposing a curfew for several months and the country's economy collapsed with people inside the houses.
