Nov 28, Colombo: Maldivian Minister of Defense Mariya Ahmed Didi and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa met Friday and held a detailed discussion on deepening bilateral partnership between both nations and regional security issues.
The Maldivian Defense Minister who arrived in Sri Lanka to attend the 4th National Security Adviser Tripartite Meeting on Maritime Security Cooperation between India, Maldives and Sri Lanka met with the Prime Minister at his office in Wijerama yesterday (27).
The meeting focused on the development of cooperation between the two countries on suppression of suppression of illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and underworld gangs, Prison Reforms, terrorism and extremism and security cooperation
Maldives Deputy Chief of Defense Staff Brigadier General Abdul Rahim Abdul Mateen, Maldives High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razak, Defense Adviser Colonel Ismail Nasir, Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Prime Minister Gamini Senarath were also present.
