* Sri Lanka records highest daily death count for COVID-19 Saturday with 9 deaths

Nov 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka reported another 09 deaths from the coronavirus COVID-19 on Saturday, the Department of Government Information said.

This is the highest number of deaths reported within a day so far.

Accordingly, the total number of deaths reported from Sri Lanka from the COVID-19 infection is 83, the Director General of Health Services confirmed.

The following deaths have been reported today:

01. The deceased is a 57 year old male from Colombo 02 area. He died at the Colombo national Hospital. The cause of death was pneumonia and sepsis associated with Covid 19 infection.

02. A 65 year old man from Wellampitiya area has died while receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital after being identified as a COVID-19 infected person at the Colombo National Hospital. The cause of death was said to be COVID-19 infection with high blood pressure and diabetes.

03. An 89 year old man from Dematagoda died at the Colombo National Hospital. The cause of death was pneumonia caused by COVID-19 infection.

04. A 48 year old female resident of Colombo-10 area died at home. The cause of death was identified as a heart attack associated with COVID-19 infection.

05. A 72 year old male resident of Colombo 10 area died at home. The cause of death is a heart attack brought by due to COVID-19 infection with exacerbated diabetes, high blood pressure.

06. A 69 year old female resident of Colombo-13 area died at home. The cause of death was identified as a heart attack associated with COVID-19 infection.

07. A 76 year old man from Wellawatta died at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Mulleriyawa after being transferred from the Colombo National Hospital following identification as COVID-19 infected. The cause of death was bacterial pneumonia and sepsis caused by COVID-19 infection.

08. A 75 year old female resident of Wellampitiya area died at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Mulleriyawa after being transferred from the Colombo National Hospital following identification as COVID-19 infected. The cause of death was identified as pneumonia associated with COVID-19 infection.

09. A 76 year old female who was transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital in Mulleriyawa from a private hospital died at the IDH. The cause of death was identified as pneumonia associated with COVID-19 infection.
