* Coronavirus update: 439 new COVID-19 cases identified Friday, total rises to 19,280

Nov 20, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 439 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Friday.

Among the positive cases identified Tuesday are 435 close contacts of the infected from Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and four arrived from overseas including two arrived from United Arab Emirates and two foreign sailors currently in quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10 pm Friday, a total of 19,280 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 5,936 patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 462 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 74 deaths and 13,271 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals. A total of 713,652 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to November 19, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
