Nov 17, Colombo: The results of the Grade Five Scholarship Examination held on October 11th were released by the Sri Lanka Examinations Department Sunday (15) and 20,250 students have become qualified to receive the scholarship this year.
Ten students have scored the full marks of 200 and among the qualified are 250 students with special needs.
A total of 331,741 students had applied for the scholarship examination this year, out of which 326,264 students sat for the examination. The examination was conducted using 2936 examination centers and 496 coordinating centers and the examination had to be held in some areas under the curfew in the face of the second wave of COVID-19.
At the time of the examination, three students who were quarantined, two students who were infected with COVID-19 and three students from Apeksha Cancer Hospital sat for the examination.
COVID-19 Task Force, Health Division, Police Department and other security divisions, All Transport Divisions, Disaster Management Center, Department of Elections Commissioner and many other institutions supported the Ministry of Education and the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka to conduct the examination and the relevant evaluation activities.
Accordingly, the evaluation of this examination was carried out within a period of 08 days with the involvement of 4,680 examiners in 390 evaluation boards.
There are 10 students who have obtained 100% marks in this year's scholarship examination.

Siyathi Vithumsa – Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, W.A. Thasindu Kavishan – Tangalle Tangalle Model Primary School, Kadurupokuna, P.K. Dovindu Chiranjth – Embilipitiya President's Central College, H.M Senudi Damsara – Eheliyagoda Primary School, H.M. Thenuja Manumitha Bandara – Siripura Primary School, Polonnaruwa and Yehara Yethmini Epa – Girls’ High School, Kandy
