June 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) declined to 3.9 percent in June 2020 from 4.0 percent in May 2020, the Department of Census And Statistics reported Tuesday.
The CCPI for all items for the month of June 2020 was 135.3 recording an increase compared to the month of May 2020 for which the index was 134.2.
Year on Year inflation of Food Group has increased from 9.9 percent in May 2020 to 10.0 percent in June 2020 while that of Non‐food Group has decreased from 1.6 percent in May 2020 to 1.4 percent in June 2020.
For the month of June 2020, on year‐to‐year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 2.91 percent while the contribution of Non Food items was 0.99 percent.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of June 2020 was remained unchanged as 4.7 percent when compared to corresponding rate for the month of May 2020.
