* Two arrested for assaulting a Buddhist monk

June 29, Colombo: The Police have arrested two persons suspected of attacking a Buddhist monk in the Kahatagasdigiliya police division.

The police had commenced an investigation on information received that the monk has been attacked place at around 7 pm on Saturday (June 27). Two residents of the area were arrested yesterday (28) in suspicion of the assault.

The monk who was assaulted is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital. Police said that the attack was carried out on a personal dispute.

The suspects, aged 33 and 60 years, are residents of Wahagahapuwewa area. They are to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today.

. Kahatagasdigiliya Police are conducting further investigations.
