* Police seize cash, jeep from the residence of arrested former PNB officer

June 28, Colombo: Officers of the Minuwangoda Police who searched the house of the Sub Inspector of Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have seized nearly Rs. 1 million in cash, a jeep and several other items used for drug trafficking.

The police searched the residence of the former Sub Inspector of PNB based on the information obtained from questioning the suspect.

A motor vehicle and a motor bicycle used for drug trafficking, Rs. 940,000 in cash, four credit cards, a GPS device, a mobile phone with a SIM, a satellite phone, a SIM and a knife were among the items seized during the search.

Four officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau were arrested recently on suspicion of having links with a drug dealer in the Minuwangoda area.

It has been revealed that these officers have earned over Rs 30 million from the drug trafficking. The four officers and a civilian are in the custody of the CID on detention orders.
