* UNP launches propaganda campaign for the General Election

June 28, Colombo: The United National Party (UNP) launched its election campaign today from the Sirikotha party headquarters. Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The UNP said that the meeting, which used digital technology, was broadcasted in 160 locations across the country. The audience was given the opportunity to watch it on social media.

Speaking at the event, UNP leader said the party or group which can strengthen the economy of the country and the future of the people should be supported at the general election and only the UNP has the capabilities to achieve those goals.

The former Prime Minister said the COVID-19 pandemic affected all the global economies but governments in most of the countries took steps to revive their economies and protect the people. However, the present SLPP government which has been in power for eight months failed to do so.

“This government is a failure. The SLPP government has not given any solution. The only party that can provide solutions to the crisis is the UNP.”

The UNP leader assuring to present a comprehensive economic plan to rebuild the country, said in order ensure a sustainable income for all Sri Lankans, especially the rural folks, answers must be provided to micro and macroeconomic issues.

Dismissing the rumors that the UNP has made a pact with the government, Mr. Wickremasinghe said the only pact the party makes is with the people.
