* Ranil says UNP is the only party that can strengthen the home economy
Thu, Jul 23, 2020, 12:29 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 22, Colombo: Leader of the United National Party former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the only the UNP can strengthen the home economy and requested the people to elect an UNP government.

Addressing a public rally organized by Ratnapura district UNP candidate Lakshman Munasinghe to ensure the victory of the UNP candidates in the district, Mr. Wickramasinghe said a stable government should be formed for the future development of the country.

He pointed out that the formation of coalition governments is a setback for the country.

The former Premier said the home economy under this government has collapsed.

“Do you remember how the Titanic sank? If the Pohottuwa government stays in power our economy will sink. Since they cannot provide a solution to the economic crisis now, they are preparing to mortgage the resources of our country as a solution to this. They are also considering the signing of the MCC agreement. The government is not capable of reviving the economy,” he said.

“Pohottuwa, which destroyed the home economy, is unable to protect the country’s economy,” Wickremesinghe said..

“We truly appreciate the enthusiasm of our supporters even amidst this Corona pandemic,” the former Premier he said after attending a series of successful meetings held in Ratnapura yesterday.

A group including candidates contesting for the general election from that district were also present.
