July 15, Colombo: The Ministry of Education handed over appointments to 155 diploma holders of the National Colleges of Education who completed national pedagogical training in the study years 2014/2016 and 2015/2017.
The teaching appointments into grade 3 – 1 (B) of the Sri Lanka Teacher Service were given at a ceremony held at the ministry of education under the leadership of the Secretary of Education Mr. N.H.M. Chithrananda Tuesday (14).
Under this scheme, 79 Sinhala medium, 28 Tamil medium and 48 English medium diploma holders have been offered teaching appointments.
They are recruited for the subjects of primary education, Science, Mathematics, Mother-tongue, Second Language, English, Sociology, Buddhism, Physical Education, Commerce, Music (Karnataka), Arts, Dancing, Drama and Performing Art, Information and Communication Technology, Agriculture and Food Technology, Planning and Technology, Arts and Handicrafts, Home Science, Special Education, Arts and Crafts, Design and Electronic Technology.
The number of teachers that have been absorbed to the teacher cadre from the National Colleges of Education so far is more than 130,603 and the percentage of it is 52.91% of the entire teacher cadre of this country.
A group of officers including the State Secretary of Education Mr. Ranjith Chandrasekara, Additional Secretary Anusha Gokula and Additional Secretary Hemantha Premathilaka had joined in this occasion.
