* Colombo Airport provides repatriated Sri Lankans opportunity for duty free shopping

July 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) has introduced a temporary scheme for passengers who were deprived of the opportunity to purchase duty free goods at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) when they returned to the country due to the restrictions imposed to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Limited, retired Major General GA Chandrasiri earlier said the repatriated Sri Lankans, who were subjected to quarantine directly from the airport will be given the opportunity to purchase duty-free items when their quarantine is completed.

Accordingly, the Chairman and the management of Airport and Aviation Services Limited announced that the passengers arrived during the period from 9th March 2020 to 31st May 2020 will be provided the opportunity to purchase duty free items from the Arrival duty free shopping complex at Bandaranaike International Airport.

The facility is subjected to rules and regulations of the Sri Lanka Customs and regulations of Health authorities.

Passengers are required to register for the service and should arrive at the airport starting from today daily from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Arrangements for passengers arrived from 1st June 2020 will be notified later, the airport authority said.
