* SJB candidate former MP Ashoka Wadigamangawa dies in crash

July 05, Colombo: Samagi Jana Balawegaya Puttalam District Parliamentary Election candidate and former UNP parliamentarian Ashoka Wadigamangawa has died in a car accident today at the age of 68.

The vehicle in which the former MP was traveling has collided with a lorry traveling in the opposite direction on the Kurunegala-Puttalam Road in Padeniya, Wariyapola at around 3.45 p.m. Sunday, the police said.

Wadigamangawa who was critically injured in the accident, succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Wariyapola Base Hospital.

Police said the lorry driver who also sustained injuries in the accident has been admitted to the Nikaweratiya Hospital.
