* Sri Lankan arrived from India infected with COVID-19 during self-quarantine at home

July 02, Colombo: A Sri Lankan arrived from India has become positive for COVID-19 during self-isolation at home following the quarantine at a quarantine center.

The Government Information Department quoting Director General of Health Services said the infected patient is a Sri Lankan sea guard who had returned from India.

Upon his return to the country he has undergone the mandatory 14-day quarantine process and found negative for COVID-19 when a PCR test was conducted at the completion of his quarantine before his release.

The patient was then subjected to a 14-day quarantine period at his home in Jinthupitiya area in Colombo 13 and a PCR test conducted during his self-isolation period was found to be positive for COVID-19.

Accordingly, the Director General of Health Services has affirmed that the patient identified from the society but in the quarantine process.

Relevant authorities will take all the security measures that need to be taken in this situation, the statement said.
