July 02, Colombo: The police have arrested a suspect who was transporting 201kg of Kerala Cannabis in a lorry in the Periyakattu area on the Medawachchiya-Mannar road yesterday.

The raid was conducted on information received by the officers of the Paranayakulam police station.

According to the police, the lorry has been covered with aluminum sheets and the stock of the Kerala Cannabis packed in 87 parcels and enclosed in four sacks was found hidden carefully in a modified compartment in the lorry.

The suspect, a 22-year-old resident of Point Pedro, is to be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate today (02).
