* 1,441 failing to wear face masks, sent to self-quarantine

June 30, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Police have taken steps to self-quarantine 1,441 persons who had failed to wear face masks in public places.

They had been identified during a 12-hour operation that ended 6 pm Monday in search of people who violate quarantine laws.

The police said 39 people had been arrested during this time frame for violating the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance. According to the police, 1280 persons who were not wearing masks in public places in the Western Province had been severely warned and released yesterday.

The police said the raids will continue for the next week as well and if people do not wear masks in public places, they will take action according to the quarantine laws.
