* Coronavirus update: 628 new COVID-19 cases identified Thursday, total rises to 26,038

Dec 03, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 628 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Thursday.

Among the positive cases identified Thursday are 627 close contacts of the infected from Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and one arrived from Italy and in quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10:30 pm Thursday, a total of 26,038 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 6,877 patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 433 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 129 deaths and 19,032 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 862,446 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to December 02, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
