May 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested 528 people in the 24 hours from 6 am Friday (22) to 6 am Saturday, for violating the curfew imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.
The police also seized 138 vehicles during this period for traveling without a permit during the curfew.
According to the Police Media Unit, 62,162 persons have been arrested since the islandwide curfew initially imposed at 6 pm March 20th until 6 am today (May 23). The Police have seized 17,460 vehicles including, three wheelers and motorbikes during this period.
According to the Police Media Unit, 18,992 cases have been filed pertaining to incidents of violation of curfew regulations since the 18th of March and 7,387 people have been sentenced.
