* SLNS Samudura reaches Sri Lankan fishing vessels stranded by Amphan cyclone

May 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy ship SLNS Samudura which set sail on Thursday to assist and provide fuel to the Sri Lankan multiday fishing vessels driven away to the seas off Indonesia by the inclement weather due to the Amphan cyclonic storm, has reached to those vessels.

The Navy Media Unit said the SLNS Samudura has built up communication with the 30 or so multiday fishing trawlers.

Subsequently, SLNS Samudura is providing food, medicine for the 180 fishermen on board the vessels and fuel for the vessels which have been driven away to the seas off Indonesia by the cyclone and now on their passage towards Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Navy will assist the safe return of the fishing vessels stranded by the cyclonic storm, the Navy media unit said.
