* Curfew lifted in al districts except in Western Province, Puttalam district

May 04, Colombo: The curfew has been lifted from 05.00 am today (04) in all districts except in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts.

The curfew will be imposed in these districts again from 08.00 pm Monday until 5:00 am on Wednesday, May 06, the President’s Media Unit said.

The curfew lifted at 5:00 am Wednesday, May 06 will be re-imposed at 8:00 pm on the same day and will be in effect until 5:00 am Monday, May 11.

The curfew will continue to be in effect in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts until May 11.

In Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts where the curfew is in effect, only the people with 1 or 2 as the final digit on the National Identity Card (NIC) can leave their homes today to buy essential items such as food and medicine.

They are required to select the closest outlet located within walking distance from their homes to make such purchases, according to the PMD announcement.

This restriction does not apply to people in areas where curfew has been lifted.

People are strictly advised to follow health instructions including maintenance of physical distance in public, wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizer and washing of hands regularly when going out.

People are not allowed to enter or leave an isolated village or a zone for any reason.

While the curfew is in force in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam, the resumption of civilian life and state and private sector activities will begin from Monday, 11th May, the President’s Media Unit said.
