* Payment of Rs. 5,000 allowance, pensions for May begins tomorrow – PMD

May 03, Colombo: Payment of the Rs. 5,000 allowance, given for the COVID-19 affected groups on the instructions of the President, for the month of May will begin on Monday (04), the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

Payment for the month of May begins tomorrow and will be paid before the Vesak Full Moon Poya day.

The President has decided to pay an allowance of Rs. 5000 from March to senior citizens, people with special needs and those who are suffering from kidney ailments. Those groups whose names were in the previous lists, as well as the ones in the waiting lists, will receive the allowance, the PMD added.

In addition, pension payments for the month of May will also commence on Monday (04) and end before the Vesak Poya Day.
