Mar 31, Colombo: Head of Police Media Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana in charge of disciplinary affairs announced that the issuing of curfew permits will be temporarily restricted.

In a statement to the media, DIG Rohana said curfew passes will be issued only to a few selected parties.

Speaking at the daily media briefing at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), DIG Ajith Rohana said that nearly 7000 curfew violators have been arrested and 1700 vehicles were seized.

He also urged those who have not yet registered after return from foreign lands to do so before 1st April deadline or face arrests and criminal charges.

DIG Rohana said the police already had received the registry of all the persons who entered the country since March 16 until the closing of the airport for arrivals.

People who arrived in the country from overseas from March 16 onwards are required to register themselves with the nearest police station before 12 noon on April 1 to continue with their self-quarantine process.
