* Melstacorp donates Rs.25 mn to fight against COVID-19

Mar 28, Colombo: Melstacorp PLC recently donated medical equipment worth SLR 25 million to set up a real-time PCR laboratory at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Angoda. This is a part of the organization’s broader initiative to actively support the government in its fight against COVID-19.

Director Melstacorp PLC, Hasitha Jayawardena - Stasshani Jayawardena, Director Aitken Spence PLC and Dr. K.Thiyagarajah Iraivan - Executive Director, Melsta Hospitals and CEO, Melsta Health, represented Melstacorp PLC in an official meeting for handing over the equipment to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Melstacorp PLC is one of the CSE’s leading diversified conglomerates, headed by business magnate Harry Jayawardena. The conglomerate enjoys a strong position in sectors including beverages, telecommunications, leisure, plantations, energy, logistics, healthcare, financial services, and several other areas.

Melstacorp PLC is now employing its vast experience and diverse network to assist the Sri Lankan government in its efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 through efficient testing and effective treatment.

“We will continue to support the President and the government of Sri Lanka at this critical juncture in our nation’s history. Our most recent efforts are aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 through proper testing and early detection. We are also doing our very best to ensure a higher standard of healthcare in Sri Lanka and this will remain a priority for the group going forward,” said Chairman, Melstacorp PLC, Harry Jayawardena.
