Mar 27, Colombo: In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the government has introduced a mechanism to home-deliver medicines through pharmacies in relevant areas, a statement issued by the Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Health has identified pharmacies island-wide and the list of these pharmacies can be accessed from the official website of the ministry: www.health.gov.lk

The details include the address, contact number for WhatsApp/ Viber/ IMO and the name of the pharmacist.

The Health Ministry says that payments can be made online or via cash on delivery, and a fair amount will be charged for transportation.

In order to purchase the medicinal drugs, the general public is requested to send a recently obtained prescription via WhatsApp/ Viber/ IMO to the selected pharmacy.

The pharmacy will deliver drugs within 24 hours, the release issued by the Ministry read.

Instructions on the consumption of the prescribed drugs and the phone number of the pharmacist will be displayed on the cover. However, the pharmacist’s instructions can also be obtained by dialing the given number.
