Mar 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy on Monday commenced the renovation work of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Colombo General Hospital to treat patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Sri Lanka Navy is providing the manpower for construction work, in a bid to swiftly put up necessary facilities to treat the patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Construction work is in progress to expand facilities of the ICU, in anticipation of more patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
A group of civil engineers attached to the Western Naval Command were assigned to this task on the instructions of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
The Navy is working around the clock to complete the renovation work as soon as possible, to meet this urgent need.
