Mar 12, Colombo: Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya says the entire nation must come together setting aside differences for the sake of humanity to face the COVID-19 coronavirus challenge.

Issuing a media statement, the Former Speaker said with the reporting of two Sri Lankans infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus, it is important for the responsible agencies and the public to pay close attention to the epidemic.

However, according to the expert opinion, due to the prevailing hot weather in the country these days the possibility of the virus rapidly spreading is minimized.

“I appeal to all citizens to prepare to face this challenge as a united Sri Lankan nation setting aside all disagreements and divisions and putting humanity ahead,” Jayasuriya said.

“I firmly believe that the beloved people of our motherland will be able to overcome this menace at the earliest, with a clear understanding of the situation and without unnecessary fear.”

“I urge the people of Sri Lanka to follow the health practices as per medical advice and work for the safety of themselves and others to the fullest extent possible,” former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said.
