* Coronavirus: All schools in Sri Lanka closed from tomorrow until April 20

Mar 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education has decided to close all government schools in the country from tomorrow (13) until April 20 due to the risk of coronavirus spreading in the country.

Accordingly Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, head of the Catholic Church has decided to grant leave to all Catholic schools in accordance with the government's decision to grant leave to all public schools until April 20.

Fr. Lal Pushpadeva Fernando, Director of the National Catholic Communication Center and Spokesperson of the Sri Lanka Diocese Conference said all Catholic schools will be given leave until the 20th of April to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus virus.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs Sunanda Kariyapperuma says that it has been decided to close the Buddhist Dhamma Schools until April 20 in line with the government’s decision to close all schools.

“Considering the prevalence of coronavirus and the closure of all schools in the country till April 20, this decision has been taken in consideration of the health of the child community,” the official said.
