* SriLankan plane leaves to bring back Sri Lankan students from Wuhan

Jan 31, Colombo: A special SriLankan Airlines charter flight (UL 1422) has left Colombo to bring back the 33 Sri Lankan students from Wuhan, China, reports say.

Following a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Thursday, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said both Sri Lanka and China are currently working together to arrange for a special flight to fly out the Sri Lankans in Wuhan at the earliest.

Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha Thursday said the Chinese Government is expediting the request made for a special aircraft landing in Wuhan City which will allow the evacuation of the Sri Lankan students and their family members.

The Foreign Secretary observed that the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing is in constant communication with the 33 Sri Lankan nationals in Wuhan and has been providing necessary assistance in collaboration with the city authorities, taking as priority, their safety.
