Jan 27, Colombo: Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Pavithra Wanniarachchi Monday chaired the first meeting of the National Action Committee appointed to prevent the spread of coronavirus at the Ministry.
The meeting today focused on prompt and urgent measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Preparation of a program to contain the virus and raise awareness among the public was emphasized at the discussion.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa recently advised the Minister of Health to appoint a National Action Committee to prevent the spread of the deadly virus in Sri Lanka.
A majority of the National Action Committee consists of specialists and experts in medical and public health fields.
The committee members are scheduled to visit the airport today to review the program implemented by the aviation authorities regarding the spread of coronavirus virus through visitors.
A separate exit terminal has been set up at the Bandaranaike International Airport for passengers arriving from China. Airport staff members who come in contact with passengers have been instructed to wear face masks and take other precautionary measures.
