* Chinese research vessel “Xiang Yang Hong 06” conducts research on microorganisms in Sri Lankan waters

Jan 18, Colombo: “Xiang Yang Hong 06”, a research vessel belongs to the People’s Republic of China is currently engaged in a research on micro-organisms in the seas and on the sea bed of the territorial waters of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Navy said.

The Chinese research vessel has arrived in Sri Lanka on 3rd of January 2020.

A group of biochemists and chemists have taken part in the research. A hydrographic officer of the Sri Lanka Navy has also been attached to the ship for the hydrographic activities and he participates in the research as an observer.

Scientists of National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency, University of Ruhuna and Ocean University of Sri Lanka have also joined in the research.

On completion of the research activities, “Xiang Yang Hong 06” is scheduled to depart the island tomorrow (19th Jan).
