* Ranjan Ramanayake further remanded until Feb 26

Feb 12, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court today further remanded MP Ranjan Ramanayake, who was arrested and remanded on charges of violating the constitution by interfering in the affairs of the judiciary.

Additional Magistrate HUK Pelpola remanded the parliamentarian until 26th February when he was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today.

The Magistrate ordered MP Ramanayake to be remanded till February 26 following a request by the Attorney General to deny bail.

The Attorney General has informed the court that witnesses and victims can be influenced by the suspect through various statements issued to media while he was being transported to the court from prison.
