* Sri Lanka COVID-19 cases rise sharply to 304 with 33 new cases in a single day

Apr 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day on Monday sharply raising the total number of people contracted the coronavirus to 304.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said 33 persons who had contact with infected patients and were undergoing quarantine in Colombo, tested positive for the virus today.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau report released at 7 pm Monday, 199 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals while 122 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Seven patients have died and 98 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January and discharged last month, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
