* Second term of schools to begin on May 11

Apr 11, Colombo: It has been decided to begin the second term of schools on 11th May, President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.

Previously, the second term was scheduled to begin on Monday, April 20.

Continuing the steps taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic in the country, the government has extended the reopening of schools to protect school children, the PMD said.

The Government has made arrangements to provide the maximum possible facilities for students to distantly continue their education during the period schools are closed.

The Ministry of Higher Education has been informed to review the present situation and with the agreement of the University administrations and University Grant Commission decide the date to open the universities for students.
