* Anyone crossing district borders will be quarantined for 14 days – DIG Ajith Rohana
Thu, Apr 9, 2020, 08:25 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 09, Colombo: Anyone who crosses the district boundaries in violation of curfew will be sent to quarantine centers for a 14-day quarantine, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ajith Rohana warned today.

Accordingly, the measure will be implemented from tomorrow (10), the DIG added.

Police have imposed curfews in the country since March 20 to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and introduced a law to prevent traveling between districts.

However, the police arrest over 1,000 people daily and seize hundreds of vehicles for breaching the curfew. Since the curfew initially imposed at 6 pm March 20th until 6 am today (April 09), the police have arrested 19,441 persons and seized 5,082 vehicles for violating the curfew.
