Apr 06, Colombo: With donations of Rs. 66 million in two days, the COVID–19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund, established by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has now reached Rs. 380 million mark, the President’s Media Division said.
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma donated his April salary and Minister Gamini Lokuge donated Rs. 10 million to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today (April 06).
The fund’s balance has increased with donations of Rs. 25 million by the National Lotteries Board, Rs 2.5 million each by National Savings Bank and Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Association, and Rs. 2 million by Land Reform Commission.
Also, Maliban Biscuit Manufactures Limited has donated Rs. 10 million, Matara Bodhi Arakshaka Sabawa Rs. 1 million and Nature's Beauty Creations Ltd. had donated Rs. 5 million.
A special account had been opened at the Corporate Branch of the Bank of Ceylon under the account number of 85737373 to receive funds. Local as well as foreign donors have made their contributions to the Fund.
Donations to COVID – 19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund have been exempted from taxes and foreign exchange regulations. Deposits can be made through cheques or telegraphic transfers.
